Tracy Smith

Responsibilities

Tracy provides financial and administrative support for the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics (BEAM).  Responsibilities include assisting faculty with making travel arrangements and processing reimbursements, ordering supplies and equipment, and providing general administrative assistance to assigned faculty, instructors, and graduate students.  Tracy also provides financial assistance across the department assisting faculty and staff with updating financial and salary worksheets and assists with department reconciliations and resolves outstanding encumbrance issues involving accounts payable and travel.

Education

Tracy attended Virginia Tech and graduated from Radford University with a BS in Fashion Merchandising and Design. She is also certified in Fiscal Support & Fiscal Management.

Background

Originally from Blacksburg, VA, Tracy has been with Virginia Tech since 2014. Initially with the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, moving to the Office of Sponsored Programs, finally joining BEAM. Prior to coming to Virginia Tech, Tracy lived in Tampa Bay, Florida for 25 years working in the corporate space.
