Admission Requirements

The Carilion Clinic Biodesign Program at Virginia Tech welcomes all interested residents and future engineers. The program brings together residents as well as graduate or post-graduate engineering and sciences students to identify, design and test new ways to address today’s healthcare needs. 

To be considered for the program, complete an application for the School of Biomedical Engineering Sciences (SBES) through the Virginia Tech Graduate School - be sure to specify 'biodesign program'. 

Application Deadline: December 13

The minimal requirements for a complete application consist of the following items:

A completed online application
Application fee of $75*
Scan of official transcript(s) - submitted with the application
Official TOEFL or IELTS scores (if required)
Three (3) letters of recommendation
Statement of purpose
Résumé
