Summer REU Opportunities

Through the Virginia Tech – Wake Forest School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES), the Biomedical Engineering Department at Wake Forest University is offering summer biomedical engineering internship opportunities for interested undergraduate students in engineering-related majors.

This internship program has been successful for more than 10 years and offers opportunities on a number of projects from more than 15 different faculty members.

All interested students are encouraged to apply, and the program particularly encourages applications from underrepresented minorities and students from colleges and universities with limited STEM research opportunities. 

Program Details

Students selected for these 10-week internships will receive a monetary stipend as well as on-campus housing at Wake Forest University.

The exciting research opportunities include topics in the following areas:

  • Injury prediction model development
  • Military, sports, and spaceflight safety
  • Osteoporosis prevention
  • Biomechanical characterization of injury mechanisms
  • Diagnostics and therapies for cancer patients
  • Biomedical informatics
