Three BEAM undergrads relax and share a joke as they take a break from lab work

Through the Virginia Tech – Wake Forest School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES), the Biomedical Engineering Department at Wake Forest University is offering summer biomedical engineering internship opportunities for interested undergraduate students in engineering-related majors.

This internship program has been successful for over 10 years and offers opportunities that include 23 projects from 17 different faculty members.

All interested students are encouraged to apply, and the program particularly encourages applications from underrepresented minorities and students from colleges and universities with limited STEM research opportunities.

Program details

Students selected for these 10-week internships will receive a monetary stipend as well as on-campus housing at Wake Forest University.

This year’s exciting research opportunities include topics in the following areas:

  • Injury prediction model development
  • Military, sports, and spaceflight safety
  • Osteoporosis prevention
  • Biomechanical characterization of injury mechanisms
