Declaring a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering

Virginia Tech’s new Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program in biomedical engineering was approved for limited enrollment during its first several years. As of fall 2023, the enrollment cap has been removed. Going forward, BME now uses the requirements specified of all other degree granting programs in the College of Engineering. More information on the Change of Major process and requirements can be found on the Department of Engineering Education website.

To be considered for the BME program, students admitted as first-year students must complete the requirements and the Change of Major application on Hokie Spa at the end of the spring semester of their first year. Students admitted as transfer students are reviewed for consideration during the summer prior to their first year at Virginia Tech.

The Virginia Tech Undergraduate Course Catalog provides an overview of the program and includes information about courses offered.

Prospective students and parents are invited to learn more about our Biomedical Engineering program as well as interact with current BME students through one of our hosted information sessions. Registration required.
