Offering a Variety of Services to the Virginia Tech Community and Beyond

The Norris Hall Machine Shop offers a variety of machining services to BEAM students and faculty as well as students and faculty from other Virginia Tech departments. Additionally, the shop accepts jobs and projects from companies and institutions across the country. 

Services and Equipment

The Norris Hall Machine Shop offers the contract services below:

• All types of welding
• Heat treating
• Woodworking
• Precision machining of most metals, plastics, and composites
• Assistance with design and fabrication of projects and fixtures for both research and instruction
• Supervision and advisement of students on design projects

The shop has a wide range of specialized equipment at its disposal, including band saws, welding equipment, sand blasters, and heat treatment ovens.
