Biomedical Engineering Minor

Minor Requirements
Students are eligible to enroll in the biomedical engineering minor program of study once they've met all of the program's initial requirements. Once enrolled, a student must take six hours of required coursework, six hours of approved elective courses, and six hours of approved biomedical engineering design project or research for a total of 18 credits.
Enrollment Requirements
In order to be eligible for the biomedical engineering minor, students must be enrolled in one of the degree-granting programs offered by the Virginia Tech College of Engineering. Students must also have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
How to Enroll
Interested students should complete the minor application, which is part of the College's change of major application process. Students can apply for the biomedical engineering minor only, or for another engineering major and the biomedical engineering minor at the same time.

Undergraduate Research
Students have the opportunity to get involved in a number of research and design projects. If using Undergraduate Research to satisfy the BME minor six required hours of approved biomedical engineering design project or research, you will need to complete the College of Engineering’s Undergraduate Research/Independent Study Form AND the BME Minor Petition Form for BME Project Credit.
Successful Completion
For successful completion of the minor, students must maintain a 3.0 in-minor GPA with a minimum grade of C- or better in all courses that the student counts toward the minor.
