BEAM (ESM and BMES Undergraduate Courses) Force-add Procedures for Fall 2019
Students will need to monitor the Timetable of Classes for open seats. If no seats become available and a student is not able to enroll in the desired course, the student can complete the BEAM Fall 2019 Force-add survey. The survey will be available beginning August 12, 2019. Completion of the survey does not guarantee a seat in a class. Students will be notified via email if they have been added. Force-add requests will not be accepted for specific professors. The BEAM department will look at each student’s class schedule and register them for a time that fits his/her schedule based on classroom capacities. If a student is enrolled in a course, dropping it to add another section is not recommended. Priority will be given to those students who requested a course during the course request process but were not granted one.
If you have taken the pre-requisite but the VT system does not recognize it (i.e. you took MATH 2984: Math in a Computational Context), you should email the BEAM Undergraduate Advisor, Amanda Sandridge (firstname.lastname@example.org), to be added to the class.
If you have taken a pre-requisite course at another institution, you must upload a copy of your Unofficial Transcript to the survey. The Unofficial Transcript should list the institution where you took the class, the course name and number, and the grade you earned.
The survey will open on August 12, 2019.
